The Weight to perform songs of The Band

The Weight will play the songs of The Band at The Newton Theatre on Saturday, April 18 at 8 p.m.

The Weight, a five-piece ensemble featuring Jim Weider and Randy Ciarlante from The Band, Brian Mitchell and Byron Isaacs of the Levon Helm Band and Marty Grebb, who worked with Rick Danko and Richard Manuel of The Band, continue to share those stories and dance to those back beats.

Jim Weider (vocals/guitar) replaced Robbie Robertson as lead guitar in the second incarnation of The Band, touring with them and appearing in numerous films, videos and television shows.

Randy Ciarlante (vocal/drums) drummed and sang alongside Levon in the band until Levon’s passing and he double drummed in The Levon Helm Band.

Brian Mitchell (vocals/piano/B3/accordion/harmonica) played in The Levon Helm Band and continues taking his place in Levon’s Midnight Ramble Band.

Byron Isaacs (vocals/bass) currently plays with Levon’s Midnight Ramble Band, Dirt Farmer Band and his own band Ollabelle. Isaacs has played some of the world’s most famous concert halls with some of contemporary music’s biggest names including Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez, Willie Nelson, Ryan Adams, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow and Donald Fagen.

Marty Grebb (vocals/B3/piano/accordion/saxophone) is a former member of the Fabulous Rhinestones, Chicago, The Buckinghams and has played with The Rick Danko Band, Eric Clapton, Leon Russell, Bonnie Riatt, Etta James and Greg Allman.
