Several parents approached the Ogdensburg School Board of Education on Tuesday, Feb. 3, suggesting the district split the third-grade class.

Nisha McQueen, a parent with a daughter in third grade read a letter expressing her concern for her daughter. She said if the class as divided, the students would be able to focus easier and concentrate without any distractions. McQueen spoke on behalf of many of the parents that attended the school board meeting.

Another parent, Jody Rizzo, did some research on her own about class-size reduction. She said she found reducing class size curtails negative behavior. She said it can increase students' learning behavior and in a large classroom, the students' risk falling behind.
