The Ogdensburg Board of Education began its search for a permanent superintendent on Tuesday, Feb. 3, with a presentation from the New Jersey School Board Association.

Robyn Mehand, a field representative of the association, covers Sussex, Warren and Passaic counties, helping schools search for new superintendents. Mehand has performed searches for nine schools. Ms. Walsh, one of the Ogdensburg Board of Education members, asked Mehand if the legal fees are included in the contract. The only time there are added fees is if the attorney has to amend something.

Mehand assured confidentiality for the board members and the candidates. The candidates can apply online. Mehand’s company reviews the applications and will bring some to the Board of Education so it can evaluate the applications. If the school board is interested, appointments are made for the board to interview the candidates.

The entire school board needs participate in the interview and hiring process. This process is only performed by the Ogdensburg Board of Education.

If the Board of Education does not immediately find a candidate, Mehand said that the agency will go out and continue to search for new candidates.

Mehand stated that the agency will meet with the staff, the administration, and will set up a meeting for the Ogdensburg community in order to ask questions and receive information.
