A wind chill advisory is in effect for all of Sussex County, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service.

Temperatures could drop to between 10 and 15 degrees below zero with the wind chill, National Weather Service meteorologist Tim Morrin said.

The wind chill advisory is in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday morning. Even without the wind chill, temperatures will register at 6 degrees below zero. Wind gusts of 10 to 16 mph could be felt.

That might be the good news.
Snow is expected to start falling on Saturday afternoon after 1 p.m. Accumulations of between 1 to 3 inches could fall by 7 p.m., Morrin said.

"It gets a little dicey" after that, he said.

The snow is forecasted to mix with freezing rain and sleet Saturday evening, making roads extremely hazardous.

Two to 4 inches of additional snow may fall overnight into Sunday, with the possibility of roads "glazing" and turning into a "sheet of ice," Morrin said.

"Even small amounts of freezing rain are hazardous," he said.

Snow will continue on Sunday morning before turning into rain around 11 a.m. as temperatures warm up into the 30s.

The rain will end in the afternoon but temperatures are forecasted to drop again Sunday night to 11 degrees, bringing back the potential of more icy roads.

The weekend weather will include "everything but the proverbial kitchen sink," Morrin said.
