Each March, schools in New Jersey celebrate the observance of Youth Art Month.

The primary goal of the month is to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs.

Artwork created by students in grades K-12 from Sussex County’s public and private schools will be on display at the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council Gallery, 133 Spring Street, Newton, through March 17.

Students and their families are invited to attend the artists’ reception on Thursday, March 12, from 6:00-6:45 p.m. for grades K-5 students and 7:00-7:45 p.m. for grades 6-12.

This exhibit, which is sponsored by Art Educators of New Jersey and the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council, is coordinated under the direction of Kate Del Vecchio, Sussex County YAM Chairperson, Halsted Middle School, Newton, and Elizabeth Wassel, Sussex County YAM Co-Chairperson, Hamburg School, Hamburg.
