Discover the story of Emily Warren Roebling and the Brooklyn Bridge at Bridge Builder in Petticoats at the Jefferson Township Public Library on Tuesday, March 24, at 7 p.m.

Emily Warren Roebling (1843-1903) had been called "one of the most distinguished women in the country" and "the most famous woman in New Jersey" — and yet today, most people don't even know her name. In 1881, when most women couldn't vote, attend college or even work outside the home, Emily Roebling was helping to supervise the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge, considered the greatest construction project of the age.

Bridge Builder in Petticoats is presented at the library during Women's History Month by Carol Simon Levin, a librarian and storyteller. Light refreshments will be served following the program.

The library is located at 1031 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge. For more information, or to register, visit www.jeffersonlibrary.net, call the library at 973-208-6244, or email chris.obrien@jeffersonlibrary.net.
