The Jefferson Township Recreation Dept. is pleased to continue its adult yoga programs this spring.

Students will be instructed in one of the oldest styles of yoga — the Hatha style by certified instructor Linda Mangan.

An adult basic Beginner Yoga Class to learn yoga postures, principles of safe alignment, and breathing technique is open to new beginners, those with limited yoga experience, or anyone just wanting to take it slow and steady. While doing these gentle poses, participants will increase flexibility, release tension, and build mental clarity. There will be 10 sessions on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-8:30 p.m. beginning April 1 and ending on June 10 with no class on April 8 in the Jefferson Township Middle School Cafeteria, 1000 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge for $35.50 per person.

A comprehensive, balanced class with a steady and relaxed flow will be offered in the adult Intermediate Yoga Class.

Explore traditional yoga postures with basic to challenging options, and emphasis on safe alignment, breath, meditation, and guided relaxation techniques. This class will run for nine sessions on Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:30 p.m. beginning April 16 and ending on June 11 in the Jefferson Township Middle School Cafeteria, 1000 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge, at $31.50 per person.

All participants must pre-register through the Recreation Dept., and registration forms are available at the Camp Jefferson office, 81 Weldon Road, during regular business hours of 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridays, or by calling 973-663-8404. Download a Beginner or Intermediate Yoga program registration form from www.jeffersontownship.net by going to the “Forms Center” link to the Recreation Department section.

Registrations and checks can be mailed to Jefferson Township Recreation, Yoga programs, Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849 or dropped off in person. MasterCard, VISA, and Discover are accepted but a 2.45 percent bank convenience charge will be added to the registration fee.

There is a minimum of 15 persons per class with a maximum of 30 for each yoga session. All students should bring a yoga mat, yoga blocks (optional), and a bottle of water to each session.
