The Franklin Borough Council approved a special event permit in support of a walk to raise funds and awareness for the treatment of drug addiction and for the Center of Prevention and Counseling.

Elaine Tizzano and Mary Burns applied for and were granted a permit to host the walk in Franklin Borough on Saturday, Aug. 15 from noon to 3 p.m.

“Many in our community, county and country are struggling with drug addiction,” said Tizzano, “(This event) will raise awareness and help others. By joining together we can use the money for those with drug addiction and change the stigma so that they won’t be so ashamed.”

All the proceeds and donations will be used for the Center of Prevention and Counseling.
