Lafayette PTO plans Tiger Chase 5k

LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Township Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization will host its inaugural 5k run/walk and kids fun run on Saturday, May 30.

The race will start and end at Lafayette Township Elementary School and the kids' run will take place in front of the school. The race was named by the elementary students and the kids' run was named the Paw Print Sprint.

The 5k will start and 9 a.m. with the kids' run taking place at 8:30 a.m. The coruse will be closed to traffic from 8:15-11 a.m.

The 5k will start at the Lafayette Township Elementary School at 178 Beaver Run Road (County Rt 661), making a left onto Meadows Road and then a left onto Cliffview Drive to the round about and back to the school. The course is USA track and field certified. While supplies last, 5k participants will get a technical shirt and a sling bag. Walkers and strollers are welcome.

The Paw Print Sprint (kids fun run) is for second grade and younger. The distance will be age appropriate, ranging from a 1/4 mile to 1 mile. While supplies last, the kids fun run participants will get a t-shirt and finishing medal.

Until May 1st, The 5k registration fee is $25 until May 1. After that, it will be $30. Kids Fun Run fee is $10. Online registration can be found at www.RunSignUp.com.

All the proceeds from this event go directly back to the students and teachers of Lafayette school. The PTO sponsors numerous activities throughout the year including school assemblies, field trips, dinner dances, scholarships, teacher appreciation events, and teacher wish lists.
