HARDYSTON — The Hamburg First Aid Squad has put in 343 man hours since a contract was established between the borough and Hardyston Township, and the contract has allowed Hamburg to add another EMS crew if it is needed.

Councilman Ron Garrett, a member of the Hamburg First Aid Squad, has been the primary contact between the borough and township and keeps the Hardyston council informed on the amount of emergency calls received.

Mayor Carl Miller expressed to Garrett their appreciation to the members of the Hamburg EMS First Aid Squad for all their work and dedication.

“We are very grateful,” he said.

Township Manager Marianne Smith told the council she and the mayor met with a group of potential volunteers for the new Hardyston First Aid Squad the township is working on building. Miller, Smith and Garrett met with the Sparta First Aid Squad to discuss daytime coverage for the township.
