Hamburg woman faces charges after drug probe

A Hamburg woman faces charges after Franklin police conducted an investigation of narcotics and prescription fraud in the borough.

Sylwia Majtczak, 37, was charged on Tuesday with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, obtaining a controlled dangerous substance, and use of a prescription legend drug.

Police said Majtczak is alleged to have had an undisclosed amount of a barbiturate-based narcotic and an undisclosed amount of Valium, which police said were not obtained lawfully. Police said she also is alleged to be in possession of narcotics she obtained from various physicians.

Police said she allegedly deceived multiple physicians in Sussex and Bergen counties.

Police said an investigation is ongoing and additional arrests may follow.
