Last weekend the parking lots were full as hundreds of wine and food enthusiasts came to Crystal Springs for the Seventh Annual New Jersey Wine & Food Festival.

Although Friday’s unexpected snowfall may have made the trip take longer than expected, lovers of fine foods and wine traveled to the resort from all over the New York metro area and from as far south as Frenchtown in Hunterdon County for a weekend of indulgence.

The three-day event included a champagne reception, renowned guest chefs who offered a variety of special dinners at various resort venues, and talks by the staff of some of the country’s best wineries.

The “Marketplace Lunch” featured local New Jersey wines and products served at numerous food stations around the room.

One highlight of the weekend was held Saturday afternoon when the Garden State Chef Throwdown was held. Three New Jersey chefs competed to see who could make the best dish during the event. After everyone devoured the samples, the audience voted and selected Crystal Springs Executive Chef John Greeley as their favorite.
