Two Franklin police officers are redited with rescuing a male who police say overdosed on heroin.

Police said they received a report on Monday, March 23, at 2 p.m. of an unresponsive male who possibly overdosed.

Officers Rafael Burgos and Jeffrey Korger assisted and located the unresponsive male in a residence. After determining they had overdosed on heroin, police said Burgos administered a dose of nalaxone, a medication used to reverse the effects of an opiate overdose.

Police said a short time later, the male became responsive, breathing on his own, and was transported to a nearby medical facility for evaluation and any necessary medical treatment.

The Sparta First Aid Squad also responded.

The matter is still under investigation and no complaints were filed at press time.
