Franklin school honors top readers

More than 30 fourth- to eighth-grade students at Franklin Borough School were invited to an Accelerated Reader (AR) Pizza Party to acknowledge their reading accomplishments of earning 50 or more AR points during the first two marking periods.

After reading a book, the student goes to the computer and takes a multiple-choice AR comprehension quiz on the book’s content. Tests may have 5, 10, or 20 items, depending on the length and difficulty of the book.

The computer scores the test, awards the student points based on the results, and keeps a complete record. This celebration was sponsored by Superintendent Thomas Turner and the school librarian Sandy Bargiel.
