A June Republican primary will feature four candidates vying for two spots on the party line for this November's election for county freeholder.

The intra-party battle for the two ballot slots will feature incumbent Dennis Mudrick (R-Sparta), and new candidates Frankford Mayor Gary Larson, Fredon Mayor Carl Lazarro and Sussex Borough Mayor Jonathan Rose.

Larson has previously run for the office.

The other incumbent freeholder, Gail Phoebus, is not seeking re-election and is instead running for state Assembly.

Mudrick and Larson supported the county's multi-million dollar settlement over the controversial SunLight General Capital project and lawsuits.

Lazarro publicly criticized the settlement and the way SunLight General Capital was treating his town, at the freeholder meeting before the settlements were approved.

The primary will take place June 2.

    No Democratic petitions were filed.

    Ogdensburg
Two seats will be available on the Ogdensburg Borough Council as incumbents David Astor and George P. Hutnick are running unopposed for the Republican nomination for a three-year term ending Dec. 31, 2018.

    No democrats have filed petitions.
