Peter Valley School of Craft to host Open House

LAYTON — Peters Valley School of Craft’s Annual Studio Open House, Bevans Day and celebration of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area’s 50th Anniversary will all be wrapped into one free event on Sunday, May 3rd from noon to 5 p.m., rain or shine.

This family-friendly free event will include live music, food, studio tours, artist demonstrations, kids art activities, a mini craft fair, fine craft gallery exhibition and shopping.

The entire facility, in Layton, N.J. will be open for touring during the Annual Studio Open House. Demonstrators will be working in each of the eight studios throughout the day. They can accommodate bus groups. No pets will be allowed on campus during this event.

Visitors will have the opportunity to watch artists forge metal, weave cloth, turn wood, carve sculptures, create jewelry, and more. Kids can try their hands at a craft in the Kids Art Area and help build a collaborative sculpture with artist Harry Bower. Parents can meet the instructors of the Youth Art Camps and sign their kids up for a session. They also invite locals to tour the current gallery exhibition.

In addition browse the gallery’s first floor which showcases the work of more than 200 American artists. The Walpack Historical Society will display photos and literature about the history of the area.

As always there will be food available throughout the day and live music by Joe McKay, Obi Kaye and Olivia Zinn and the Coalition.
