Hardyston decides not to join energy co-op

Hardyston Township recently announced it will not join the Government Energy Aggregation Program

"There were too many ifs, ands or buts," Township Mayor Carl Miller said. "I didn't feel we were going to save the taxpayers moneyl.

Township Manager Marianne Smith clarified the mayor said he would not sign the contract if the consultants from the cooperative could not agree to a 10 percent savings.

The announcement was made after Indian Fields resident Roger O'Brian expressed concern that the township had not updated the residents on whether it would join the program.

Miller told O'Brian he did not feel comfortable with some of the clauses in the documents.
