HAMBURG — Wallkill Valley Regional School District will host “Hidden in Plain Sight” on Monday, April 27, at 7 p.m.

Presented by the Center for Prevention and Counseling, this educational exhibit to prevent youth drug use is suitable for parents, other adult community members and any adult who works or cares about young people. A reproduction of a teenager’s bedroom will be on display for participants to observe, becoming familiar with where and how teens might hide drugs or paraphernalia.

Seemingly innocent items, commonly used by youth, could actually indicate a substance abuse problem. This awareness event will allow adults to be more proactive in helping a young person who might be using drugs. Hear from school counselors, prevention specialists, law enforcement and a local lawyer about local drug trends and how to prevent youth substance abuse.

Additionally, Hardyston Middle School will host Straight Talk for students in sixth through eighth grade from Ogdensburg, Hardyston, Hamburg and Franklin schools from 6:45 until 9 p.m. on the same evening.

This provides parents an opportunity to drop their children off for an evening of fun before heading over to Wallkill Valley Regional High School for Hidden in Plain Sight. Students will enjoy pizza, volleyball and they will have the opportunity to participate in Straight Talk, a program of Center for Prevention and Counseling.
