Ogdensburg studnets demonstrate motion laws

As their project for the Ogdensburg Science Fair, David Hall and Nick Kinney created an exhibit to highlight Isaac Newton’s First Law of Motion, “an object in motion remains in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.”

They based their project on the premise that a motorcycle, when looked at scientifically, is a “kinetic demonstration of the laws of physics.”

They studied the foundational scientific principles behind riding a motorcycle safely, with an emphasis on wearing a helmet and proper riding gear. The boys also used research skills to identify and tag the multiple parts of a motorcycle as part of their display and created posters to illustrate the connection with Newton’s First Law of Motion.

An important component of the project focused on the science behind engineering motorcycle helmets.
