Firefighter Phil visits Hamburg school

HAMBURG — Firefighter Phil, portrayed by ventriloquist Dave Carr of Upper Darby, Pa. thrilled the students at the Hamburg School on Monday.

Using props that included a talking tree and his sidekick, “Al E. Cat” Carr,, also known as “Magic Dave,” taught the students about the importance of properly maintaining smoke alarms.

He also stressed situational awareness about their surroundings and what to do and not to do in the event of a house fire.

Each of the students received one of three activity books that were funded by donations from local businesses, organizations, and individuals.

Carr has been a ventriloquist for over 40 years and has worked for the www.officerphil.com organization for 17 years. His presentations encourage the children to be enthused about the things that he teaches them.
