Land Conservancy to take part in Birding Big Day

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey's World Series of Birding team, The Highlands Hawks, will participate in the 32nd Annual World Series of Birding Big Day on Saturday, May 9, 2015.

Armed with binoculars and spotting scopes, the team will be combing all of New Jersey with one objective in mind: identifying as many species of birds as possible in a 24-hour period. This is the 19th year that The Land Conservancy has participated in this event.

This celebrated annual event focuses world attention on New Jersey's wealth of natural resources and its strategic importance to migrating birds. Sponsored by the New Jersey Audubon Society, WSB is the country's largest and most prestigious birding competition and this event helps organizations like The Land Conservancy raise funds to protect natural habitats.

Thanks to Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A, Inc, who will be the official vehicle sponsor for the Highlands Hawks.

You can help sponsor the team with a pledge of $1 or $2 or even 25 cents a bird. Last year, the team raised $14,000 to support The Land Conservancy.

The more birds our team identifies, the more dollars they raise toward our land preservation goals. For more information or to pledge, contact Barbara McCloskey at (973) 541-1010, Ext. 14. You can also pledge online at tlc-nj.org/index.php/events/world-series-of-birding.
