Gators battle at Gator Garden Classic

HACKETTSTOWN — Each year, Giant Gymnastics of Sparta attends two meets at their sister gym in Hackettstown.

As a team, Sparta’s Gators once again brought several home banners. The Bronze and Silver level teams both brought home first place with scores of 109.55 and 112.30 respectively. The Gold team brought home third place with a 109.85.

The two teams have a level of comaraderie with each other, which owners Jennifer and John Skorski cultivate with shared events between the two gyms, such as workouts the Sparta Gators have attended in Hackettstown, or the National Gymnastics Day celebration attended by families from both teams.

"John and I feel family is very important,” Skorski said. “I just heard a statistic that families only spend 34 minutes a day together as a family. By all being one family, the time we spend together, even if because of sport, is important. I saw families from each gym greeting each other after not having seen each other in a while. That's what this is all about."

With just one week from state championships in Mays Landing, the Gators at both Hackettstown and Sparta are hard at work and hoping to bring home their first USA Gymnastics Xcel League Championship trophies.
