The Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge, in conjunction with the National Wild Turkey Federation, will be hosting a Women in the Outdoors - Introduction to Freshwater Fishing event on Saturday, June 13, 2015.

This event is open to those ages 14 and up and will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a location within the Refuge.

This event will give women the chance to learn the basics of freshwater fishing on a catch and release pond. All equipment and supplies will be provided, as well as a brown bag lunch. No fishing license is necessary as this is a Free Fishing Day for the State of New Jersey.

The Refuge is part of the National Wildlife Refuge system and was established in 1990. It straddles the Wallkill River in New Jersey and New York. The majority of the refuge is in Sussex County with the remainder in Orange County New York.

Space is limited; call 973-702-7266 ext. 10 to register.
