The Borough Council adopted the 2015 annual budget at their most recent Council meeting of April 28.

The overall budget total comes to just over $6.3 million, down just slightly from last year.

The largest allocation in the budget is for salaries. The borough currently has 27 full-time employees and 41 part-time employees. A $52.14 tax was levied this year for an average assessed home value of $174,400. This averages out to be $4.35 per month increase for the average household.

“Even with a $52 increase, I feel it’s a fair budget,” Councilman Gilbert Snyder said.

The public hearing was held to allow community members to address concerns or ask questions of the council regarding the budget, however, there were no public comments raised and the budget was passed with a unanimous vote.

Council Member Frederick Babcock stated his thanks to the budget committee, “for doing a great job with the budget.”
