The artists of Skylands Gallery announce the next Opening Show entitled “Memories” will be held on Saturday, May 9 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Skylands Gallery is a cooperative of artists from the Skylands Region of NJ. This month’s show will feature dozens of new works and more than 200 in all.

Artists will include: Phylis Barfoot, Carol Chave, Rima Hamade, Lisa Lopez, James-Jaie Maione, John Maione Jr, Qaasim Munoz, Janet O’Neil, Liza Smith-Simpson, Diane Suter, June Ponte, Stephen Vecchiotti, Bruce Young and Justin Zimmer.

The art represented at the gallery ranges from photography to traditional representational paintings to large modern art pieces. All artists not only have their originals for sale but priced hand-signed prints with certificates of authenticity.

Admission to the show is free. Entertainment for the evening will be oldies music, with an emphasis on the 70’s by local musicians Jeff Gaynor & Val.

The shows offer patrons the opportunity to meet and discuss the artwork with the artists.

Each month the artists of the gallery seek to benefit a different local charity using their art. This month the artists have created new works which will benefit Harvest House Soup Kitchen in Sussex, NJ, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The artists are donating 50 percent of the sale from these pieces to Harvest House. In addition the artists have some hand-signed prints for sale in which 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit Harvest House.

The Soup Kitchen operates Monday to Friday and serves approximately 50 meals free of charge and is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Their mission is to provide a nourishing midday meal to fill the physical and emotional needs of an underserved population in the northern section of Sussex County. Harvest House provides a clean, safe and welcoming environment which is easily accessible to those they serve. Learn more about Harvest House at www.harvesthousenj.org.
