Westy's Gymnastics hosts state championships

Sarah Philback of Hardyston, NJ rises gracefully above the balance beam. Philback represents Westy's Gymnastics of Franklin, NJ. The 2015 New Jersey State Gymnastics Championships took place on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd 2015. Westy's Gymnastics of Franklin, New Jersey hosted the event at the Sparta Athletic Club in Sparta Township, New Jersey.

Gymnast Sarah Philback Hardyston is in the top spot on the medal stage.

SPARTA — Sarah Philback of Westy's Gymnastics of Franklin won championship in the 9-year-old Bronze Division with a score of 9.55 at the New Jersey State Gymnastics Championships from May 1-3 at Sparta Athletic Club. Gymnasts from all over the state competed in the event.

Philback, of Hardyston, also finished third in the vault with a 9.25, fourth on the bars with an 8.25, 12th on the balance beam with a score of 8.75. She also performed a Silver Division floor routine and scored an 8.8, a sixth-place finish. She also finished third in the Silver Division balance beam.

Samie Copley of Vernon was a bronze specialist on the vault with 8.55 and on the floor with an 8.825.

Andrea Piedresanta, 10, of Hamburg was a bronze floor specialist with a score of 8.775.

Cassie Sullivan, 11, of Sparta was a bronze vault specialist, scoring an 8.2 and an 8.825 on the floor.
