Crystal Springs hold first member tourney

More than 120 members converged on the Wild Turkey Golf Club for the kickoff of the Crystal Springs Member Appreciation Tournament series on Wednesday, April 29.

The event was hosted by Club General Manager Adam Donlin assisted by Membership Director Tom Dyer and Event Coordinator Matt McGarry.

The competition began with a shotgun start at 1 PM with all golfers competing in four divisions as two player teams following a scramble format. The players competed in a one of four divisions: Men’s Division, Senior Division for golfer 60 years of age and over, Women’s Division and Couples Division. Additional prizes were given for the winners of the Putting Contest, closet to the pin and long drive competitions.

At the end of play the team of Joe Shields and Mike Clohessy ended play with a score of 7-under-par 64 bettering the second-place team of Tim Okronglhy and Jack Demetris by 3 strokes which finished with a 4-under-par 67.

The event putting contest attracted approximately 50 competitors. At the conclusion, of the competition Bob Mosier ended up the winner with a putt that stopped 5 inches from the cup.

Division prize winners included: Women’s Division — Barbara Newhouse and Lisa Roth with a score of 7-over par, 78; Senior Division — Bob Mosier and Ed Lemire with a score of 3-under-par 68; and Couples Division winners Donna Wallerius and Robert Wallerius with a score of par at 71.

The men’s closest to the pin competition was dominated by one golfer. Mike Clohessy won the competition on both hole No. 7 and hole No. 12. Lisa Roth was the winner of the women’s closest to the pin on hole No. 14. Men’s long drive was captured by Rich Reade while Mary Lou Nicoletti, captured the women’s long-drive honors. The senior long-drive winner was Gerry Bohm.
