Saturday was a special day at Bob’s Collectables when the store participated in the annual Free Comic Book Day worldwide event.

According to storeowner Bob Adams, it was the best turnout ever for the annual event. According to Adams, they gave out more than 1,600 comics and drew close to 400 people for the special event.

“Best of all, it was mostly a family affair event," Adams said. "The number of children that attended was greater than expected, and that was exactly why the event was created.”

He also noted that it was encouraging to see that adults returned to the hobby as well. People from the entire tri-state area attended. The event is the annual kickoff for Children’s Reading Awareness Month.

Bob’s Collectables is located in the Hardyston Commons Shopping Center at 3640 Route 94 North in Hardyston. The store specializes in collectable coins, cards, and comic books among other things. For hours and directions, call 973-827-2627.
