Jefferson plans summer day camp

LAKE HOPATCONG — The Jefferson Township Recreation Department has announced the 12th season of summer day camp at Camp Jefferson will run for 9 weeks from June 22 through Aug. 21 in a safe and natural environment at the township’s 94-acre facility at 81 Weldon Road in Lake Hopatcong.

Registration is ongoing at this time with a policy of registration and payment due Two Tuesdays Before the week you want your child to attend.

Camp Jefferson’s facilities include a spring-fed lake for boating and fishing, open grass fields, an amphitheater, fire pit with seating, numerous themed cabins, a main community lodge with full kitchen, a recreation hall with table games, basketball courts, a picnic pavilion, high and low ropes courses, an archery range, a 40-foot rock climbing wall with a vertical playpen and a 250-foot zip line, two GaGa Pits, and a state-of-the-art playground.

Camp Jefferson offers a five-day week ($190) or a three-day week ($150) where you choose the three days -- both 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A discount is offered for campers, who are Jefferson Township residents; and on 5-day weeks, each additional sibling registered within the same five-day program week gets a $10 discount,

The preschool program is open to all children 3 years old as of June 22 and completely potty trained, an elementary school-aged program for those children entering kindergarten through fifth grade in September 2015, a ‘tween program for children entering fifth and sixth grades in September 2015, and a teen program for children entering seventh and eighth grades in September 2015.

Camp Jefferson’s program is a `la carte as participants can choose all options or choose none and let the child just enjoy an exciting regular fun-filled camp day. Before and/or after camp care, electives, special trips, and morning only bus transportation are available for an additional charge as well as lunch options four times a week.
