Christmas Decor program accepting applications
VERNON — As Memorial Day approaches, Christmas Decor by Pochuck Valley Landscaping LLC announces that Christmas Decor, North America’s leading professional holiday and event decorating company, is now accepting nominations for its annual Decorated Family Program, designed to bring a little extra holiday spirit into the homes of military families whose loved ones will be deployed for the holiday season.
Each holiday season, hundreds of Christmas Decor franchisees in the U.S. and Canada participate in the Decorated Family Program event by donating their products, resources and time to decorate the homes of military families in their communities as a thank you to our country's soldiers for their dedication and service. The program, now in its ninth season, began after a franchisee attended a holiday dinner party and began to consider all of the men and women serving overseas who would not be home to celebrate the holidays with those they love.
“There will be more than 300,000 men and women deployed overseas this holiday season,” said Melissa Muller of Christmas Decor by Pochuck Valley Landscaping LLC. “All of these military families will be facing the challenge of preparing for the holidays without their loved one. For all that these brave men and women do for our country, we are happy to give a little back to their families at the holiday season.”
Muller says Vernon residents can celebrate Memorial Day in their community by filling out the Decorated Family nomination form available on the Christmas Decor website. This form allows people to explain why a military family should become a "Christmas Decor Decorated
Family" for the 2015 holiday season. Christmas Decor corporate will select military families from the nominated families in each community based on the family’s location (to ensure there is a local franchise to provide the award) and the impact of their story on the judges.
The company is seeking to attract hundreds of nominations that result in decorating at least 200 homes for the 2015 holiday season. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 21.
“These service members and their families are real life heroes,” Muller said. “We want them to know that, even though they cannot be home for the holidays, we are reaching out to their families to let them know that we are grateful for all that they do for our country.”
