The Borough Council established the tax levy at 2 percent higher than last years. The avearage home in Hamburg is valued at $150,000, which would cost the owner of a like-valued property an additional $26 per year.

According to Council Member Mark Sena, only 25 percent of the borough's budget came from the homeowner tax bill.

"The rest is from other sources," he said. "I think we did a good job."

The school budget also was announced to the council at the meeting. The school board also saw a 2 pecent increase. The school budget was established at a $27 increase for a $100,000 assessed home value.
