WARWICK — Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery will host its annual Bob Dylan tribute festival May 23, 24 and 25. The Dylan Festival is a continuation of the Winery’s ongoing music series uncorked and unplugged in the orchard.
The event will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. on the winery’s outdoor stage. Performers will play a mix of Dylan songs, paying homage to Dylan’s timeless music. Attendees will see great local musicians as well as national recording artists all playing at one of the Hudson Valley's prettiest music venues.
The music of Bob Dylan is a diverse blend of styles, encompassing genres from gospel, to folk, to rock and country. The lineup of musicians playing at this festival attempts to reflect that diversity.
On Saturday, the festival kicks off with Rob Schiff and Julie Corbalis, followed by vocal powerhouse Sloan Wainwright and perennial Dylan fest favorites The Kennedys. Additionally, Woodstock-based Professor Louie and the Crowmatix will be playing their Dylan and Band favorites. Saturday concludes with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Steve Forbert.
Sunday sees the return of the Grand Slambovians to the winery stage. Also performing on Sunday are The Kennedys, Tim O'Donohue, E’lissa Jones and Dylan fest veteran Rod MacDonald.
MacDonald, an encyclopedia of Dylan songs, will be returning on Monday and is sure to play some obscure Dylan tracks from the past. He will be joined on stage by Uncle Shoehorn, The Kennedys, Tombstone Blue Review and Steve Wynn and the Miracle 3. Wynn, founder of 80s band The Dream Syndicate, will add edgy takes on Dylan classics.
Wine tastings, hard cider, and Black Dirt spirits as well as food and soft drinks will be available all weekend at the winery. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, and blankets. Outside food and beverages are prohibited. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
