Michael j. Magaraci

    Michael J. Magaraci, 56, of Hamburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Newton Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer. Michael, the eldest son, was predeceased by his parents, Joseph J. Magaraci, 1985 and Arloene M. Magaraci, 2014, and by his grandparents and two nephews. He is survived by 3 siblings, Linda J. Praino and husband, Edward, Hixson, TN; Christine M. Starick and husband, William, Effort, Pa.; and Joseph J. Magaraci, Jr., Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; his longtime girlfriend of 27 years, Debra L. Sisco and caretaker throughout his illness; 8 nieces and nephews, with honorable mention to Shaun and Jennifer for their constant loving care of their dear Uncle Mike; and seven great nieces and nephews.

    Michael was born in Pequannock, N.J., raised in West Milford, N.J., and was a 1976 graduate of West Milford Twp. High School. Michael went to motorcycle mechanics school in Florida and became a certified motorcycle mechanic. He was the head mechanic for Great Gorge Golf Club, Crystal Springs in McAfee, N.J., since March 2003. He previously worked at Precision Forms in Butler, Sava Industries in Riverdale and Kawasaki in Pompton Plains. In addition to being a motorcycle enthusiast, Michael enjoyed cross-country skiing, mountain bike riding, Nascar (Dale Jr. fan), classic cars and classic rock music, his favorite radio station was Seton Hall Pirate radio, WSOU 89.5. Michael was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and former co-workers.

    Funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at noon at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94(1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS) Vernon, NJ, with Rev. Alden Johnson officiating. The family will receive their friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, from 10 to noon. Burial will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, New Jersey.
