    Steve Papa, 80 years old, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 11. Born to Istvan and Erzsebet Papa in Ezstergom, Hungary, he came to the United States in 1957 settling in Franklin.

    Steve worked for the International Brotherhood of Allied Trades as a Taper and Spackler out of Jersey City, N.J., until 1990 and then owned and operated his own business, Steve Papa Contracting in Franklin, N.J., until his retirement in 2005. Steve was semi-pro soccer player for the Hungarian National League and also with the New Jersey State Soccer League in Passaic, N.J., and played with a local Franklin soccer team. He was an avid tennis player, a parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church, Franklin, N.J., a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and the Tall Cedars. Steve was also a long time supporter of the Franklin Fraternal Order of Police.

    Steve was predeceased by his wife, Anna Papa (2013), a sister, Erzsebet Papa Etelvari, and a brother, Guiula Macko and was the devoted father of Erzsebet Caparotta and her husband, Silvester of Franklin, NJ. Loving grandfather of Tanya E. Caparotta and Angela Maione and her husband, Michael, Great grandfather of Vincent and Gianna Maione and Mason Abrams, uncle of Katherine Etelvari and George Etelvari and his wife, Cheryl. Gran uncle of Paige, Devon and Dallas Sell.

    The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main Street, Franklin, N.J., on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 3-6 p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, June 15, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
