Newton Theatre: Movies return

| 18 Jun 2015 | 02:24

The Newton Theatre is hosting a special movie event on Saturday, June 27. Cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" will be presented at 9 p.m. with a pre-show party beginning at 8 p.m. The Newton Theatre has all new digital cinema and sound equipment for the movie presentation.

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is the longest running theatrical in history, playing continuously in theaters since 1975. The story of Brad and Janet takes a strange twist after their car breaks down and they unwittingly become houseguests of the outlandish Dr. Frank-N-Futer, who introduces himself to them in the iconic song Sweet Transvestite. Song, dance and pandemonium ensue with a bizarre cast of characters.

There will be a professional shadow cast performing during the movie. The cast will act out the scenes in the film as they take place and cue the audience on when to use the props.

A pre-movie party will begin at 8 p.m. with music, dancing and a costume contest. Merchandise will be sold in the lobby, including prop bags for audience participation.

Tickets for Rocky Horror are $10. Purchase tickets by visiting www.thenewtontheatre.com or contact the box office at 973-383-3700.
