Five face heroin charges

Franklin police have arrested five people on heroin possession charges and charged two others as part of a three-month investigation into drug dealing in the borough.

The arrests began on May 27, when police arrested Franklin resident Mandee Monico, 24, for possession and distribution of heroin. She was remanded to the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility on $20,000 bail.

In a statement released by Franklin police, Vernon resident Patricia Dolan, 65, was arrested on marijuana charged on June 1 in Franklin as part of the same investigation.

On June 10, Paterson resident Gilberto Lara, 27, was arrested in Franklin for allegedly possessing an undisclosed amount of heroin near the Franklin Elementary School and distributing heroin near Fireman's Memorial Park. He was remanded to the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.

On June 15, police arrested Christian Kosmisnsky, 23, formerly of Franklin, now of Sussex, for multiple counts of possession of heroin, and distribution of heroin, as well as distribution of heroin in a school zone. Kosmisnsky was remanded to the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.

That day police also arrested Franklin resident Destini Wieczekowski, 21, for possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She was released on her own recognizance pending a future court appearance.

On June 16, Franklin police arrested Crystal Galione, 26, of Franklin, and charged her with possession and distribution of heroin. Galione was remanded to the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility on $35,000 bail

On June 18, Bryan Walsh, 28, of Vernon, was charged with possession and distribution of heroin. Walsh was remanded to the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail.

Police did not disclose the amount of heroin or other drug obtained during the arrests.

According to Franklin police, thousands of dollars worth of heroin was seized as well as an unidentified amount of cash.

Franklin police were assisted by the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department Canine Unit and the Sussex County, Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests may follow.
