Matthew Silverman, a senior member of the men's rowing team at Bates College, received New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Academic distinction for the spring 2015 season. To receive NESCAC All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.

Silverman, son of Mr. William L. Silverman and Ms. Anna M. Silverman of Lafayette, is a 2011 graduate of Pope John XXIII Regional High School. He majors in economics.

"Bates Athletics is especially proud that our students perform as well in the classroom as they do in their respective sports," said Kevin McHugh, director of athletics at Bates. "We had a terrific year competitively across all of our sport programs and the NESCAC All-Academic citations demonstrate that we had and equally successful year academically as well."
