Vernon resident earns degree

Jacob McCarthy of Vernon, NJ received his Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts from The Culinary Institute of America on June 12 in Hyde Park, NY.

Jacob McCarthy is the son of Nadine and Brian McCarthy, and a 2013 graduate of Vernon Township High School. He is the grandson of Joan and Pat McCarthy of Vernon and Ed and Caroline Zerbe of Sunbury, PA. He completed his externship field studies at Devil's Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa in Tabernash, Colorado. While there he worked his way from Heck's Tavern to their premiere restaurant, Ranch House Restaurant & Saloon and assisted in the opening of their new restaurant Volario's at Vasquez Creek Inn in Winter Park, CO. He will return to Colorado for employment before entering the Culinary Institute of America's Bachelor's of Professional Studies in Culinary Arts Management degree program next year.
