Changing addiction walk and community event planned

    FRANKLIN — A walk is planned on Saturday, Aug. 15, is planned at the Franklin Paviolion on Buckwheat Road in memory of two young men from the area who lost their lives to addiction.

    Two local mothers joined by pain and heartache over the loss of their sons got together with The Center for Prevention and Counseling to plan this community opportunity for healing and hope. The public is urged to participate by walking on August 15, by becoming a sponsor of the walk or by making a donation. The rain date will be Sunday, Aug. 15.

    Organizers of the “Changing the Face of Addiction” walk hope to make a difference in supporting people who struggle with addiction. Local and national prevention, treatment and recovery resources will be presented at the event in Franklin as well as an opportunity to hear from people and families speak personally about their road to recovery. Hamburgers, hot dogs and refreshments will be available at no extra charge thanks to donations from local businesses.

    Proceeds from this event will be used by the Center for Prevention and Counseling located in Newton, NJ to help those currently in need of services for substance use disorders.
