Charles A. Roberts, president and Chief Executive Officer of the Ames Corporation in Hamburg, recently visited the preschool classroom at the Little Sprouts Early Learning Center to read children’s books as part of Project Self-Sufficiency’s Celebrity Reader program.

“I had a wonderful time reading to and speaking with the ‘Little Sprouts’, said Roberts. “It had been a while since I had read to young children, and I had forgotten how much fun it was to feel their excitement, hear their questions, and see their reactions. What a great place Project Self-Sufficiency provides for the kids to learn and grow. The special people who make up the Project Self-Sufficiency team do an exceptional job of creating energy and enthusiasm in these kids, and it is very clear that they really do love their jobs and love working with the children."

The Celebrity Reader program is a component of Project Self-Sufficiency’s Family Literacy Program, which exists primarily to assist parents with obtaining their GED or with passing the college placement exam. While in the program, parents also engage in a variety of activities designed to promote literacy within the entire family.
