Franklin police make Narcan save

    Franklin police officers and members of the Sparta First Aid Squad are credited with saving a female who overdosed on heroin on Wednesday, July 22.

    Police said they received a report of an unresponsive female who may have overdosed on heroin.

    Officers assisted a 31-year-old woman in a bedroom of the residence, who appeared to be unresponsive. Police said officers quickly determined she had overdosed on heroin. Franklin police officers a dose of nalaxone, a medication used to reverse the effects of an opiate overdose. Police said the female began breathing on her own and was transported to a nearby medical facility for evaluation and any necessary medical treatment.

    Police said the matter is still under investigation and no complaints were filed at this time.
