Stengel sets new 800 record at Stevens Tech

    Louis Stengel from Vernon High School was a senior on the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s outdoor track and field program.

    Stengel set a school record in the 800-meter run at the Lions Invitational in Ewing, N.J., with a mark of 1:54.56. He was named the Empire 8 Track Athlete of the Week, following his performance at the Lions Invitational. At the Empire 8 Conference Outdoor Championships in Rochester, N.Y., Stengel placed second in the 1,500 run.

    The Ducks placed third as a team at the Empire 8 Conference Outdoor Championships. Stengel is listed as a major in mechanical engineering.

    Carly Satter (High Point High School) was a freshman second baseman for the William Paterson University (NJ) softball team this spring. Satter played in 25 games and started four of them for William Paterson. She had two hits, two RBIs and scored eight runs.

    The Pioneers had an overall record of 30-13-1 and they were 7-6-1 on their home field. In the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) they had a mark of 13-5. William Paterson went 1-2 in the NJAC Tournament with a victory over The College of New Jersey and losses to Ramapo College and Rowan University.

    The Pioneers then advanced to the NCAA Division III Union, N.J., Regional where they finished with a record of 3-2. They defeated Farmingdale State College, the College of Staten Island and Kean University. They lost to the College of Staten Island and in the regional championship game, William Paterson was defeated 7-6 by Kean University.

    Matt Wighard from Vernon High School was a junior defender for the Albright College men’s lacrosse team this past season. Wighard started in all 17 games for Albright.

    The Lions had an overall record of 13-4 and they were 6-0 at home. In the Commonwealth Conference, they posted a mark of 6-2. Albright advanced to the Commonwealth Conference Tournament semifinal round where they were defeated, 7-6, by Messiah in a game played in Grantham, Pa.

    Brandon Ramage from Wallkill Valley High School was a junior member of the Delaware Valley College men’s golf team this spring. Delaware Valley placed fourth at the Freedom Conference Championships in Hershey, Pa.

    James Corti (Wallkill Valley High School) was a sophomore on the roster of the Dickinson College men’s outdoor track and field team. Dickinson placed sixth at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships in Allentown, N.J.
