Peters Valley School of Craft is pleased to announce a new exhibition, Love of the Delaware River Valley: Celebrating 50 Years of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, in the Sally D. Francisco Gallery from Aug. 15 through Oct. 18 with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15.

This juried exhibition will showcase personal interpretations of the region’s cultural and natural resources to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area. The works selected for the show go beyond the literal, whether realistic or abstract in their depiction, to evoke the spirit of the spaces and places of the Delaware River Valley. Participants from around the country created furniture, photography, jewelry, ceramics, 3D printing and more as a result of their experiences in the inspiring park. Walter Stevens reflects on the contemplative time he spends in the forests of the Delaware River Valley in “Fallen Tree Chest,” a functional furniture piece made of Walnut and Tiger Maple woods.

Peters Valley School of Craft is located within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The cultural richness of the historic farmhouses and structures Peters Valley utilizes for studios and lodging provide unique opportunities to learn, appreciate and practice fine craft.

The Gallery at Peters Valley School of Craft is located at 19 Kuhn Rd., Layton, N.J. with current hours: Thursday to Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Wednesdays).
