Vernon athletes play for Marywood lacrosse

    Travis Pappas and Bobby Sedlock, both from Vernon High School, were members of the Marywood University men’s lacrosse team this spring.

    Sedlock, a sophomore defender, played in seven games for Marywood and Pappas, a freshman who played attack, also saw action in seven games. Pappas had nine goals and an assist.

    The Pacers had an overall record of 12-6 and they were 8-1 at home. In the Colonial States Athletic Conference, they went 6-1. Marywood advanced to the CSAC Playoffs, where they defeated Gwynedd Mercy, 8-5, in a game played in Scranton.

    In the CSAC Finals, Marywood lost to Cabrini College in a contest held in Radnor, Pa.

    From there, the Pacers competed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III men’s lacrosse championships, where they topped Misericordia University, 10-7, in a game played in Scranton. In the ECAC Division III semifinal round in Alfred, N.Y., Marywood was defeated by Western New England University.

    Pappas and Sedlock are as a health and physical majors

    Brett Fundell from High Point High School was a junior pitcher and third baseman for the Lebanon Valley College baseball team this spring.

    Fundell played in all 34 games and started 33 of them for Lenape Valley. He had a .292 batting average with 33 hits, including a team-high 10 doubles, a triple and two home runs. Fundell scored 21 runs for the Dutchmen.

    Lebanon Valley had an overall record of 13-21 and they were 8-6 on their home field. The Dutchmen had six victories in the Metro Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Conference. Fundell is listed as a criminal justice major.

    Daniel Tintle (Vernon High School) was a junior for the Marywood University men’s tennis program this past season. Tintle had a 4-5 record in singles competition. In doubles competition, he had an overall record of 6-3.

    The Pacers had an overall mark of 5-4 and they were 3-0 on their home courts. In the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), they went 5-2. Marywood advanced to the semifinal round of the CSAC Championships where they were defeated Neumann University in a match held in Philadelphia, Pa. Tintle is listed as a criminal justice major.

    Tim Runo from Vernon High School was a freshman midfielder for the Lycoming College men’s lacrosse program this past season. Runo played eight games and started one of them for Lycoming.

    The Warriors had an overall record of 3-12, two of their wins were earned on their home field. In the Metro Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Conference, they had a record of 3-5. Runo is listed as a biology major.
