ZDC wins big at nationals

Ziegler Dance Centre’s Z Dance Troupe recently attended On Stage America Nationals in Cape May Court.

Their 76 numbers received many high scores and special judges’ awards. A few highlights from the week include ZDC’s Reese Decker of Hamburg winning first runner-up for junior soloist and earning the title Junior Mr. On Stage America with his hip hop solo, “I Wanna Party"; soloist Matthew Losco of Vernon won Teen Mr. On Stage America, “Most likely to be on Broadway”, and the “George Hazel Scholarship”;  soloist Emily Moreno of Vernon won first runner-up for senior solos with her musical theatre rendition of “Les Poissons”;  Alexa Perrotta and Matthew Losco, both of Vernon, winning second runner-up for their musical theatre duo, “Anything You Can Do”.  OSA holds the “Challenge of Champions” in which the highest scoring group dance from each studio re-competes.  

In the Junior Division, ZDC’s jazz group, “Cover Girl” re-competed and took third runner-up in the challenge, as well as fourth-runner-up in their junior large group division. In the senior division of “Challenge of Champions,” musical theatre production, “Tangled — Rapunzel’s Adventure” won second runner-up and also won “Most Entertaining Award” for the entire week’s competition.

Petite Tap Small Group “ABC Boogie” won second runner-up; while Petite Ballet Large Group “When You Wish” won second runner-up and hip hop large group “You Better Move” won first runner-up for their division. 

Finally, choreographer Peggy Ziegler was awarded the “Ballet Excellence Award” for overall technique, choreography and performance for her ballet group “Rodeo”.
