Golfers compete in long drive qualifier

At the Long Drive qualifying event held on Friday, July 31, each golfer had three opportunities to hit their golf ball far enough to qualify for the championship.

The long drive in the Men’s Division of 305 yards was made by Mike Clohessy with the drive of Rich Clawsn of 266 yards taking the lead in the Senior Men’s Division. Barbara Hurt’s drive of 198 yards was the best of the day in the Women’s Division with Michelle Richard’s drive of 235 yards the best in the Senior Women’s Division. Sean Clohessy’s drive of 215 yards was the best in the Junior Boys 14 – 17 Division.

Golfers showed their sportsmanship by supporting their fellow competitors and one competitor, Adam Kurtz from Warwick had his father, mother, wife and baby daughter on hand to cheer him on.
