New Superintendent/Principal attends first board meeting

    The Aug. 4 Board of Education meeting was the first meeting that David Astor, the new Superintendent/Principal of the Ogdensburg School attended.

    The Ogdensburg Board of Education approved a submission of a request to the Sussex County Superintendent of Schools, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, to waive the Principal position for Ogdensburg Elementary School for the 2015-2016 school year.

    The Board of Education also approved the out of district tuition for a special education student to attend the Northern Hills Academy from Sept. 2 through June 30, 2016 at the tuition of $46,975.

    Astor complemented Mike Ryder for stepping up in July as the acting Superintendent for the month of July. He praised him for the great job he did in the short amount of time he served.

    Some personnel issues discussed were the Ogdensburg Board of Education approved the position of a full time Social Studies/Computer teacher for the 2015/2016 school year upon the recommendation of the Superintendent/Principal.

    The Board also commented that Lindsay Daly resigned as the part-time Social Studies teacher effective July 7. They were sorry to see her leave.

    The next Board of Education meeting will be held in September.
