    July 14Richard J. Jarry, 35, of Stanhope pleaded guilty to one count of violating a restraining order, a crime of the fourth degree, theft, a disorderly persons offense, and criminal trespass, a disorderly person offense.

    Sentencing is presently anticipated for Aug. 21.

    On or about May 15, the defendant purposely or knowingly violated the provisions in an order under the “Prevention of Domestic Violence Act of 1991," specifically by entering the residence of B.S., without permission to do so knowing that there was an active final restraining order per SSX-FV-000389.

    July 15Charles R. Harms, 52, of Newton was sentenced to two years of probation, was ordered to serve 180 days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility and was given credit for 66 days.

    He was further ordered to submit to a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations made, must abstain from alcohol use and attend at least five AA meetings. He must pay total fines and penalties of $244 and submit a DNA sample at his expense.

    He pleaded guilty on July 15, to fourth-degree driving while license is suspended and the motor vehicle offense of failure to use lighted lamps. After being stopped on Route 206 in Andover Township on March 20 for driving a vehicle with no headlights on, Harms admitted to the officer that his driver’s license was revoked.

    The matter was investigated by Officer M. Puccio of the Andover Township Police Department.

    July 16Jismael Medina, 26, of Kissimmee, Fla., was sentenced to five years of special Drug Court probation. He was ordered to pay joint and several restitution in the amount of $17,510.64, pay total fines and penalties of $280 and submit a DNA sample at his expense.

    He pleaded guilty on March 30 to second-degree eluding, third-degree resisting arrest and the motor vehicle offense of reckless driving. In pleading guilty, Medina admitted to intentionally driving at a high rate of speed in order to avoid being pulled over by police in Hardyston on Dec. 31, 2014. He crashed the car and then fled the scene of the accident.

    The matter was investigated by Sgt. E. O’Rourke of the Hardyston Police Department.

    July 17Paul Cordero, 23, of Ventnor was sentenced to three years of probation on condition he serve 10 days of SLAP, obtain a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations and pay fines of $1,205.

    He pleaded guilty on April 12 to third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

    The defendant was stopped for a motor vehicle violation by Ogdensburg police. During the stop it was discovered Cordero had a warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody. During the search incident to the arrest the defendant was found to be in possession of heroin.

    Julian Vega, 23, of Andover was sentenced to two years off probation on condition that he does not use any illegal drugs or alcohol and pays $1,455 in court fines and fees. She also received credit for 67 days for time already served in jail.

    He pleaded guilty on May 12, to third-degree possession of controlled dangerous substance, fourth-degree receiving stolen property and fourth-degree conspiracy to commit shoplifting.

    In April of 2014, the defendant waited outside Byram Shop Rite while his co-defendant shoplifted baby formula and drove away as soon as his co-defendant came out of the store with the formula. In September 2014, Vega had an active warrant out for his arrest. During the arrest, he admitted having heroin on his person to Byram Police and was found to be in possession of glassine baggies containing heroin.

    Kyle Shalkowski, 27, of Hopatcong was sentenced to 2 years of probation and 120 days of house arrest. He must submit to a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations. He was ordered to make restitution in the amount of $300 and pay total fines and penalties of $280.

    He pleaded guilty on March 26, to third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and to third-degree terroristic threats.

    On Dec. 9, 2013, Shalkowski threatened to harm two individuals and attempted to slash their tires with a knife.

    July 20Tanya Caparotta, 36, of Franklin pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking or disposition, possession of a stun gun and certain persons not to have weapons, all fourth-degree crimes.

    Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 21.

    In pleading guilty, Caparotta admitted that on June 19, in Franklin, she stole a red wallet. Upon consent, police searched her purse and found a stun gun. Caparotta, having been convicted of the crimes of arson and aggravated assault, is not permitted to possess weapons.
