Chamber plans grill off

NEWTON — The Sussex County Chamber of Commerce is accepting professional and amateur grilling team entrants for the competition grill-off that’s the cornerstone of its annual Champion of the Grill BBQ and Blues festival on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta.

A top prize of $500 and the title of Champion of the Grill will be awarded to the highest scoring single entry. Additional cash prizes also will be awarded to the highest scoring amateur and professional entries.

Categories include pork ribs (loin or spare - no country style ribs), pork shoulder or butt, chicken (no cornish hens), beef (no hamburger), whole hog, wild game and lamb. There is also a Healthy Grilling and a Grilled Dessert category. Winning entries in these two categories receive trophies.
