Pass It Along plans bike tour

    The fourth annual Pass It Along Bike Tour fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Long Pond School.

    Routes will open at 7 a.m. and participants may start their tour any time from 7 a.m. until noon or join the official group, which will start at 8:30 a.m. The event officially ends at 1 p.m.

    More than $500 in prizes and gift cards will be offered to participants at the event.

    Event includes three well marked road routes for beginners, intermediate and advanced cyclists; roadside assistance; rest stops providing food & beverages; and an event T-shirt. Must be pre-registered by Aug. 31 to receive a T-shirt.

    A fun Kids Only Zone, closed off from moving vehicles, and the Kids Rodeo will open and start at 9:30 a.m. Children, age 11 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

    Another fun aspect to the event is the top fundraising and largest team trophies. For the second year, Eastern Propane will award these winning teams a trophy engraved with their team name on Event Day. Eric Martino, owner of EM Electrical Contractors in Newton, was the 2014 winner of both trophies, raising more than $1,300 and recruiting a team of 23 riders.

    All individual fundraisers collecting $250 or more jersey will also receive an exclusive Pass It Along cycling jersey.
